In 1892 he became the Bishop of Sodor and Man〔The Times Wednesday, May 11, 1892; pg. 9; Issue 33635; col E ''Enthronement of the Bishop of Sodor and Man''〕 and 15 years later was translated to Newcastle where he was nominated on 8 July, installed on 2 September 1907, and served until his retirement on 30 September 1915.
